WW Ideas

I love getting ideas and advice and tips with what helps others on the weight loss journey, especially with Weight Watchers. Here are some ideas that I'd like to share:

I like to eat the lowfat laughing cow cheese with the Special K multi-grain crackers. It's filling and it's only 3 points. I can add a cup of grapes for another point and it's a good lunch.

I like to eat angel food cake with 1/2 cup of strawberries and 1 T of fat free cool whip for dessert. It's only 2 points.

I think whole wheat pasta actually tastes better than the regular...it cooks better imo. I can eat 2 oz of that with sauce for a nice 4 point dinner. Add a salad with all the veggies I want and lowfat dressing and it's only 5 points.

Those hostess 100 calorie snacks are a lifesaver...the chocolate cupcakes and the cinnamon ones are my favorite and they are only 1 point.

I eat baked tostitos (the scoop) and salsa for 2 points. I make my own salsa so it's even better!

Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches are great for 2 points. The mint ones are my favorite.

My favorite salad to make at home is this: lettuce, tomatoes, 2 oz grilled chicken breast (you really don't need that much for a salad), Baked Tostitos, 1/2 cup black beans (or fat free refried), and salsa for only 5 points. Add fat free cheese or just a scattering of regular shredded cheese for just 1 more point. I'm learning to do without the cheese since I can't do the fat free (yet).

Corn Tortillas...you can eat 2 for only 1 point. You can steam them in the microwave, spray them with ICBINB spray, and eat with salsa and it's so yummy.

When I'm working at school, I love to take the Progresso Soups...lots for only 1 point and some for 0 points. Regular tomato soup is great too for only 1 point.

I'm a candy fanatic and every once in a while, I have to have some. 2 Laffy Taffy bars are 1 point.

My favorite sandwich to make at home is this: whole wheat pita bread with lean ham or turkey, laughing cow cheese (lowfat one) lettuce, tomato, and mustard. It's only 3 points. I like toasting the pita bread.

As I think of more ideas, I'll continue to post here on my blog. Please share what you like and what works for you as far as WW goes.

WW Update

I LOST 4.2lbs!!!!!! I am so excited! I was totally shocked when Kay, the receptionist gave me my number! I've really kicked in the exercise and increasing my water intake and I'm making smarter choices I can tell. This is so motivating...just hope I can keep it up! Things are getting so much easier too...like today, I went with my friends Betty and Jen to Subway for lunch after the meeting. I had my regular 6 inch ham on honey oat and baked lays and I got stuffed! Usually that would be like an appetizer!

1st Lost Tooth

I was upstairs doing something when I heard Seth screaming. I ran down and darn it if Nathan hadn't pulled Seth's tooth out! You see, it was a big deal to me because this was his first one. It had been hanging on for some time, but Seth wouldn't allow us to go near it. Finally, I guess he (and Nate) had had enough! You know crazy picture crazy mom was upset that I didn't get a "before" picture and a "during" picture, but these "after" pictures work.

Funny thing too...Seth put his tooth in the pillow for the tooth fairy. She came, but he was so tired that morning getting up to go to school, he forgot to look in it! And of course in all the chaos of getting myself and the kids ready for school, I forgot too! So after school, he ran into his room and found his money.

100 days of school

This is what I came up with for Seth's "100 days of school" snack. I had a "1" and a "0" cookie cutter so I made rice krispie treats and then cut the numbers out...then I decorated with frosting so you could see the detail in the numbers. It was fun!

I wished I'd had larger bags so the numbers could've been side by side...anal I know!

Catching up...Nathan's birthday with family

Nathan turned 38 on the 31st of January so we went to Texakana and celebrated with his family. I'm posting these so late because I just now got a card reader so I could download pictures. I'm so frustrated that my Rebel won't do it on it's own anymore. I'm planning to send it in, but I don't have another camera to use in the meantime.

Great picture huh?! We went to On the Border for lunch. We like On the Border and eat there alot when we visit because Shreveport's just went out of business.

Nathan's mom made his cake. Nathan is one of those freaky people that doesn't like dessert or chocolate (wish some of it would run off on me!) so when he does eat cake, he likes his mom's homemade white cake with fluffy white frosting. That's alot of candles on that cake!

My in-laws have this great tree for climbing in their backyard. Seth always wants to climb so that gives Nathan an excuse to show off some of his crazy "Spiderman" abilities too. If you read my facebook notes, you'll know that Nathan is an amazing climber! He's so agile and balanced! Jonathan takes after me (he has a fear factor) so you'll see no pictures of that boy in this tree...ever!

Yes I was a nervous wreck with Seth being that high!

My mother in law always asks for us to pose for a family photo...good thing because it hardly ever happens otherwise.

Seth was just fine up there, but when he started to come down, he got scared!

And yes, he just had to go up one more time! Luckily dad was down to help this time.

WW Update

I forgot to update here. I'm down another 1.4lbs...6lbs altogether. I know I can't be bummed about a 1lb loss and I know this is how it all works and it's the right way, but I keep thinking it should've been more! I ate better, didn't use my flex points at all, and started working out. I'm not discouraged at all though.

Pancakes with the Principal

Jonathan is 2nd from the left before Mr. Thompson.

Jonathan is in the bottom left corner.

Thanks Candy for posting this on your blog! Photos copied from SWP website.

At the beginning of the month, Jonathan was chosen to have "Pancakes with the Principal" at school. It's a program that rewards positive behavior among the students. It's a real honor to be chosen! I'm so proud of Jonathan!

WW Update/Scarce

I'm proud to say my first week of doing WW I lost 4.6lbs! It's keeping me motivated!

Also...my blog posts are going to be scarce for a while. My laptop is sick and I'm not able to download any pics. All kinds of electronic problems! My Canon Rebel is not downloading pictures at all. My card reader software is lost and it's off my computer since we upgraded the desktop. UGH!

Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day!

100 days of school

Can anyone give me a cute idea for a "100 days of school" craft and/or snack?

Started Weight Watchers, Found some good blogs

Well, I finally bit the bullet after several weeks of 'thinking about it' and joined Weight Watchers. They meet on Tuesdays at my church...12:15, 4PM, and 6PM. I did WW before and was successful as long as I stayed with it and attended the meetings. I am one that needs constant motivation and accountibility so the meetings are a must for me. I started counting points this morning and I forgot really how easy it is to do. They have so much now as far as food and recipes that can keep you on track. My good friend Betty was there so we can do this together. The leader of the meetings that I attend is SO good...she's got such a wonderful, upbeat, bubbly personality. I've only known her since yesterday and already I can't wait to see and hear her again.

For those 4 that read my blog :) and for those that do Weight Watchers, I found a couple of good blogs with ideas and recipes.

Anyone else got any great tips, websites or blogs about WW they would recommend? Anyone else out there doing this with me?

Sci-Port Birthday

Last Saturday, we had Seth's friend birthday party at Sci-Port (he calls it his fake birthday!). We had a great time...I love their birthday parties because they are organized and the kids get to do fun science experiments that are hands on.

Making liquid nitrogen ice cream!

Must have a Batman cake!

Surgery Day

Just after arriving in the surgery waiting area. Jonathan was so tired! We got there at 5:45 so no wonder!

Here are a few more pictures of Jonathan from the morning he had surgery. He's doing so well. He was extremely sore the day after, but has improved each day after that. On Friday, he started standing up and walking straight, but we still kept him out of school all day. I stayed home the day of the surgery as well as 1/2 a day on Wednesday. Nathan was able to be with him here at home the rest of the time. My mother in law came and helped on Friday. Yesterday he was able to play around at Sci Port and today he even ran a little outside (made me nervous!) and went to church this morning and choir tonight.

Waiting for his anesthesia before going to surgery. He was so calm with a little help from his Nintendo DS!

Jonathan has had this little dog since he was 9 months old. His name is Chris. My cousins Nancy and Chris who lived in Boulder, CO brought it to Jonathan when they came to Cheyenne for a visit. That was when he was 9 months old and he hasn't been without Chris since! It was funny too...when I asked Jonathan what the dog's name was, after he'd had it a few days, he said, "Chr" hence his name...and it was so suiting since Chris brought it to him! Isn't it cute how they masked him?!

Right after coming 'to'. Poor guy had just thrown up...he was so sick!

Coming home!

When we got home, there were some of the sweetest gifts waiting for us. Courtney, Jonathan's good friend and our next door neighbor had given him a balloon, some markers, and a card. His other good friends, Geoffery and Matthew had give him a bag of his favorite treats (Doritos, Fruit Roll Ups, Reese's cups, and Little Debbie football brownies) and a neat big Star Wars coloring book. That Geoffery is so smart and attentive! He noticed what Jonathan brought in his lunch each day so he knew exactly what he loved! Thanks also to our sweet friends who prayed, called, visited, and emailed. Our sweet neighbor, Chrissy brought us dinner...twice! Our other sweet neighbor Alicia gave us Baskin Robbins certificates. Thanks so much!
