Mother's Day Coming Up

I'm still trying to figure out what to get my mom for Mother's Day. Any ideas? Nate asked me what "I" wanted (for the boys of course!). It's funny because there's always something I want ;), but now I draw a blank. SO...whoever reads this, I tag you to say what you are getting your mom (or some important mom) and what do "YOU" want? Comment here or post on your blog.

Boring LIfe

Sorry I haven't had much to say lately...I think my life is boring. ;) We had a noneventful, relaxing weekend. It rained all weekend. Yuck. I got some scrapping done. I got some organizing done. Some laundry and some cleaning done. The most exciting thing we did was go to Outback on Friday night. I ate too much as I always do there. Jonathan and I were fighting over the cheese fries! :)

Had AWANA tonight. The kids were so wild! I hate to admit this, but I'm ready for this year to be over. I end up so exhausted and regretful about what I didn't do or I should say, have time to do with my kids. We do not have enough help and that makes me frustated and sad. I know I have to pray that God will send the right people who are willing, but it's nights like tonight that really get me down. I had a headache that won't go away.

Guess I can be a Vikings Fan

Congrats to Adrian Peterson! He was selected 7th in the first round by the Minnesota Vikings.

Newest Layouts

One thing with it being so rainy here, I'm getting caught up on my scrapping!

So Sad

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families and friends affected by the terrible tragedy at Virginia Tech. I'm still so shocked that someone could be so mean and evil. This sounds so harsh, but geez, if you wanna kill yourself, then kill yourself...don't bring 32 others down with you. Of course I know this A hole wasn't thinking with any logic obviously. It's just so sad.

Friday Fun

Today my buds, Beth and Kathy came over to scrap. We had fun and I got some pages done. I finally decided to get busy on some Disney pages.

On a good note...

seriously as I sat here and typed out that last list of 13, Nathan came in and told me that he was visiting one of his guys today. They went out to lunch at this mexican place and when they asked their server for their bill, he said, "Don't worry about it. The lady sitting across for you guys picked up the tab." Wow! Totally melts my heart and it did to Nate as well.

Ok, ok this must be a sign not to be so negative and disheartened. I can still BLAME IT ON THE RAIN though! LOL!

Another Thursday 13

I love these! I'm so freaking depressed right now. It's the weather I'm sure, but I'm sick of it here. I try to make the best of it and don't get me wrong, I feel so blessed that we are all TOGETHER...I have friends whose hubbys are going to Iraq and Korea in the next month.

13 Things that Suck about being a Military Wife (beware, I'm brutally honest):

1. Not knowing where you are going to be in 6 months or less time.
2. Being so far away from family, especially grandparents.
3. Remote tours
4. Deployments and long TDYs
5. Always having to make new friends and then leaving them or they leaving you.
6. Never getting much equity in a home.
7. Base housing...enough said.
8. Having to worry about promotion. It's stressful for both.
9. The distinction and desegregation between officer and enlisted...at least it is here.
10. Having to always up and find a job or put your career on hold every three years or less.
11. Trying to explain the benefits of moving around so much to your kids.
12. Learning new areas and trying to find your way in a new place.
13. Homesickness

Yeah I know, this is so negative, but that's the way I feel right now. :(

Thursday 13

13 Things I love about my kids:

1. Love that Seth still wants to snuggle.
2. Love that Jonathan is reading like a pro! :)
3. Love every school day that Seth says, "But mom, I wanna hang out with you!"!
4. Love that Jonathan will eat veggies and fruit.
5. Love Seth's eyelashes and beautiful blue eyes!
6. Love Jonathan's creativity and how he's so smart.
!7. Love that Seth is keeping my dad's personality alive.
8. Love that Jonathan is extremely friendly. Last night here's how he introduced all of us to his Librarian..."Hi Mrs. R...this is my brother Seth, he's 4...this is my dad, Nathan, he's 36...this is my mom Jennifer, she's 33! :)
9. Love that Jonathan and Seth play so well together.
10. Love that they love AWANA and how they get excited to memorize scripture.
11. Love Jonathan's beautiful smile and cute little face.
12. Love that they rather play outside or with their toys than watch TV.
13. Love them more than anyone could ever imagine.

I was right

Hayley's gone. I figured. And Phil was in the bottom 2. I figured Chris would be next. WTH is wrong with people...Sanjaya is sick!!

Can I be somewhat optimistic?

Can Sanjaya please go tonight? Heck no...predicting it will be Hayley. Or maybe Phil. I'm rooting for Blake. Am I nuts to think he's just a tad bit sexy!

Wednesday Whine

Ok, well not really a whine. Yet. :) Today was absolutely gorgeous!! We met some friends after J got out of school and went for a picnic. The kids played and played. It's really warmed up...to about 50! Whoooo! But here's my whine, it's supposed to snow 2-4 freakin' inches tomorrow and Friday. GET ME OUT OF THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!

19 More Days!!!

Til' the NFL Draft. I'm so excited to see where Adrian Peterson will go. I mean, yes I'm excited on one hand, but dissapointed on the other since he won't be with the Sooners next year. I'm anxious to see Oklahoma's complete recruiting line up. So far, it's not looking the greatest. Texas seems to have a better outlook. Ugh...

I'm worried

I'm worried about my brother in law. His sugar levels are just too high. We had to quit asking what his daily readings were because it worried us so, and being 2,000 miles away from home, we feel kinda defenseless. Well last night, Nathan asked and Matt's level was 170. He's got to get them to come down and make permenant changes. I'm seriously worried that he's gonna have to start insuline shots or even worse, some serious complication will happen. You can't take diabetes with a grain of salt. I'm sure diabetes had a big roll in the 'much too early' death of my dad. I wish my inlaws would be more proactive. They think 170 or anything under 200 is 'ok'. I guess they think so because at first, his levels were houvering around 350! YIKES! Thankfully today they are seeing a nutritionist...I hope it helps and that they honestly take her advice. It's so hard because on one hand, Matthew is an adult and strives for independence...eating is something he can definitely control. But on the other hand, he's like a child and doesn't understand things like this. He's smart beyond belief, but maturity plays into this big time. We just have to pray...

Great Easter

Hope everyone had a great Easter yesterday. We had a fun time. Went to church, great service/message. Our friends came with us. Then we came home and the 'dads' hid the eggs and the kiddos found them. WAY TOO MUCH CANDY! UGh! I think that's all Seth ate yesterday. I had to hide it last night. I'm going to just throw it away. None of us need it! Anyway, then we had lunch. It was good, but the stupid ham was too dry. I got so full and didn't eat again, still haven't eaten since yesterday at lunch. I'm seriously considering having green bean casserole for breakfast! :)

Hope everyone has a great week!

Yeah I know this is an old song,

but I HEART Kid Rock! Sheryl Crow's great too. LOL...I'm going from Jeremy Camp to this. But I just had to put it here. Love the video. This song reminds me so much of the time right after Seth was born...it was so popular then. Fun times.

Terrible Tuesday

It was just a rough day. I'm slowly getting my energy back, but I just felt down a bit today and sordof wiped out. Of course I had the incident with Seth and it's rainy and cold, but I just felt blah. Maybe it's the leftovers. :)

On a good note, Seth was an angel when we got home. We had lots of fun together and snuggled for a long time, reading books and me just holding him before he fell asleep. It always works this way, but it's good. I want him to know I mean business, but that I love him more than anyone could imagine too. Fun fun this mommy thing! :)

Isn't this neat??!

Both the National Champs in Basketball and Football this year...the Florida Gators!! WOW! And even crazier, they played Ohio State both times! Wonder if that's ever happened before??? Anyway, congrats any Gator fans.

I know I'm not supposed to...

compare kids, but I can't help it. Some of the things Seth does, some of the things he comes up with. Jonathan would've never... Of course Jonathan has his moments, but none like this. I hardly have to get after him and it's always been that way. But Seth...wow...

Here's what happened today, a friend and I went to the local scrapbook store. I was good, going by my budget...just getting some new Junkitz paper (Extreme Boy...LOVE IT!) and a small Maya Road book to alter. As I'm checking out, guess who slips away, runs to the RED embossing powder (mess) and starts sprinkling it all over the floor. I WAS SO MAD! It's crazy how you can love someone so much, yet be SO mad at them. He challenges me. He knows he did wrong. I had a huge briefing in the car before going in, stay right with me, don't touch anything, yada yada yada...I'm constantly having to grab his hand and keep him close by (it's a small store that's crammed packed with stuff). We weren't in there no time. Is that too much to expect??? And then when I think we've escaped any damage or harm, there he goes. Yeah, it's my fault for not insisting he stay right beside me for that minute. I honestly thought he was right behind me...yeah right. Duh! Well the stupid stuff was $10 for a small little container! I don't emboss. I don't have an embossing gun. But I love this place, I'm a frequent customer, I wasn't about to leave without buying it. My friend's daughter was 'playing' with Seth over there too so she gave me $5, but she shouldn't have. So, guess who didn't get to go to McDonald's and play in the Playplace? And guess who gets NO TV today??? He's so onery and rotten. I feel like I can punish and take away all day long and he's still going to be this way. I always thought I was so consistent and consistency is the key. I'll give some of it to personality, but not all...the other part I know is my fault. :( It's depressing. I'm eating my words, one by one...ya know the ones saying, "Well my child will never do this/be like this"...sigh...

Seth has said a hundred time since, "Mommy I like you".

Monday Musings

What a gloomy day. I'm so sick of the cold and rain. Supposed to get snow this week. That's just wrong. Who would live where it's cold this long, by choice??!! ;) Ugh... Anyway, had a good day otherwise. Seth and I went to the mall with friends. Ate at Chick Fil A and did some shopping at The Gap, Children's Place, and Sears. I have to take most of it back though.

Poor Jonathan. I hate that he has to get allergy shots. It's just a miserable experience for him. Nate has to take him because emotionally, I just can't do it. Well, I could, if I had to, but luckily it's working out this way. I hate to see him so upset. It's hard on a mom and of course I know, it's harder on my poor baby. He dreads it. I 'think' it's helping. I know it's a good thing long term too. They are coming to clean out our air ducts so that should help too. Oh but one of Nathan's co-workers said that they are mercury based and now I'm all freaked out! I'm calling his allergist first thing in the AM.

I got my laundry done...that's a good feeling. I just finished about an hour ago. I should spread it out I know, but the thought of doing laundry, more than once a week, makes me sick! I hate it worse than anyone I think.

We got our tickets reserved for Florida in July! YAY! We are ALL going to Sarah's wedding. Oh, did I tell you my sister in law is engaged? Yes! There's hope yet for cousins. LOL! Her fiance' David is a great guy. Still going to NC too this summer. Sorry to say, that doesn't leave much room for home. :( Where I want to be the most. Maybe though...still keeping home in the 'maybe', at least sometime before the boys start school next year.

We had leftovers for dinner. Yummy roasted chicken, roasted potatoes, and asparagus casserole. It's all gone so that's good. Tomorrow, we'll finish off the black bean burritos and rice. I love getting rid of leftovers...we just aren't that great about eating them, but we've made a vow to do better. On Wednesday, I'm making some BBQ ribs, baked beans, and potato salad. I'm so hungry for BBQ. Thursday will be spaghetti and meatballs, the boy's favorite! I'm going to make homemade bread too.

I know, boring stuff, but I want to keep up with keeping my blog updated. :)

I miss K-Love

There's no K-Love station here in this area...ummm, go figure. ;) I miss my good, contemporary Christian radio stations, especially K-Love. Even Jonathan wants to know what happened to positive, encouraging music. :) I loved it because K-Love played alot of Jeremy Camp, one of my favorites. Just found this song and wanted to put it in my blog.

Scattered words and empty thoughts
Seem to pour from my heart
I've never felt so torn before
Seems i dont know where to start
But its now i feel your grace fall like rain
From every fingertip washing away my pain
I still believe in your faithfulness
I still believe in your truth
I still believe in your holy word
Even when I dont see I still believe

Though the questions still fog up my mind
With promises i still seem to bear
Even when answers slowly unwind It's my heart
I see you prepare
But its now that I feel your grace fall like rain
From every fingertip washing away my pain
The only place I can go is into your arms
Where I throw to you my feeble prayers in brokeness
I can see that this is your will for me
Help me to know you are near
