I want this next from WS!

Actually, I want this for two boys that want this! It's a train cake pan...each section is a different car!

I love this place! I love working there! I love shopping there! :) I love my discount...went in yesterday and got some yummy stuff...can you believe this TRUE SOUTHERNER is changing her menu from cornbread dressing to focaccia stuffing!! Stuffing in a box already to go (well I'll add celery, onions, and mushrooms)! But it's Williams Sonoma stuffing!! Their gravy base is awesome...I probably will never do anything else. Let's see...I love their untensils. Got a new digital meat thermometer and a sporty new red apron! Oh and their garlic puree for mashed potatoes is wonderful! So let's see, got all that for $40 with my discount. Not bad! I'm praying that I get enough discipline to not spend every dime that I make on their products! My kids really do want Christmas and Birthday gifts! Sigh... :)

What I did this weekend

I made this for Jonathan's teacher. It's an altered tissue box. Got the box at Michael's, painted it, Mod-Podged patterned paper on it and added her name and a few embellishments. Fun and cute!

I know! I know!

I'm horrible. Officially a slacker. I'm not getting on the computer that much anymore so my blog gets really stale!

Maybe it's because, "I GOT A JOB!!"! Yes, I'm an employee at Williams Sonoma and I love it! Extra money, time for myself, feeling a bit more useful!

Let's see, what else is going on. The boys have both been sick. Jonathan had pink eye and some stomach bug. Seth had a wierd, high fever for several days. Glad they are both healthy now...knock on wood! Jonathan was so bummed that he couldn't go to school on Friday. It was "Stone Soup" day. His teacher knew how excited he was about it and how bad he hated to miss, so she came to our home on her lunch break. Brought us a big batch of soup, rolls, cookies, and some homework for Jonathan! He felt better instantly and loved hosting he beloved teacher in his home! :) So cute! I sent a kudos email to the Principal telling her how awesome Mrs. K is...I know they hear all about the negatives, but hardly ever the positives and from experience, I know that's just as important. Mrs. K went above and beyond and I wanted it known! :) I love this school...Oh and I challenge any of you that have school aged children, let their teacher(s) know how much they are appreciated...a quick email, a short note, whatever it takes. I can guarantee it would make his/her day.

Getting ready for Thanksgiving. Having a house full of guests. I'll be serving:

Turkey
Ham
Cornbread Dressing
Cranberry Sauce
Mashed Potatoes (sweet potatoes are gross!) and Gravy
Steamed Green Beans
Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrot casserole (this is awesome!)
Homemade Rolls
Pumpkin Pie
Pumpkin Roll
Cheesecake
Key Lime Pie

What are you having?

I've Been Tagged

I was tagged by Leslie (I think! lol).

These are the rules:

List 5 weird things about yourself or your pets. Tag 5 friends and list them. Then, those people need to write on their blogs about 5 weird things, and state the rules, and tag 5 more people.

1. I wanna puke at even the thought of hospital food. BLECH! I won't eat it and if I smell it, I gag. When I had both my boys, I survived on cheez-its. I think I would've made a good nurse, aside from this fact.
2. I don't like the feel of cotton balls, especially when it's rubbed together.
3. All closet doors have to be closed, especially if I'm sleeping in that room. I also hate shower curtains to be open.
4. I like to be scared. Scary movies. Scary books. Scary TV shows. Love it!
5. I hate mayonaise, but I love miracle whip on saltine crackers!

I tag:

Summer, Gayle, Amy, Michelle B, and whoever has a blog and reads here. :)

Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!

Yes, I've neglected my blog. I'm so sorry! I am not getting on the computer as much as I used to. Ok, I promise to do better! :)

Field Trip

I went with Seth as a chaperone on his first field trip. Fun fun! We went to Lookout Farms for apple picking. We also got to pet and feed some pretty cute animals at the petting zoo. The apples were FABULOUS! Also got to pick some yummy peaches too. Seth loved the trip of course, but the highlight was riding on the big, yellow school bus!

I want that hair!!

See the video at the bottom of my blog?? I want Natalie Grant's hair!! Everytime I look at it I think should I grow mine out again??? Mine's thinner than her's I think so it probably wouldn't work. Why wasn't I one that was blessed with great hair?

Jonathan wasn't the only one who started school

Seth started preschool last week! He was very anxious and not that happy about going. But when we got there and he saw a few familiar faces...friends and his teacher, he was ok. I left (with reservation, but hey I know how it is, I've been on the other side ya know!) and when I came back, Seth came running to me saying he had a great time and that he was ready to go back. Next month! :) He did great though on Thursday so I feel good about it. I can't believe my babies are growing up so fast....*sigh*

Amazing Talent

Even though the Sooners lost yesterday 34-33 to Oregon, Adrian Peterson was awesome as usual. I honestly have never seen anyone that were so amazing on their feet! I can't wait to see how his career prospers. I wish I was there at Memorial Stadium seeing the Sooners in person.

This is what I came up with

Tried not to copy Teresa exactly, but wanted to take her inspiration and make something similar. They were fun!

5th Anniversary of 9/11

It's been 5 years tomorrow. I'll never forget what I was doing. Jonathan turned 9 months old that day. I remember Nathan busting through the door of our base home in Wyoming and running to our bedroom screaming, "Turn on the TV!"!!! As a fluke, I was sleeping in that day. Jonathan amazingly slept later than 7AM. We just sat in front of the TV in total shock. I remember holding my baby and never wanting to let him go. I felt so protective of him, that day in particular. I remember calling my mom. I remember not being able to leave the base for a couple of days and for the first time in my "military life" being under a Threatcon Delta...the highest security level possible. I remember not being able to get Jonathan's 9 month portraits made. I remember crying myself to sleep that night.

I pray for the families and friends of the victims of 9/11. I pray for our great nation and realize in the grand scheme of things, often what I think is of complete importance, is totally not.

Now what were you doing when you doing on that horrible day 5 years ago tomorrow?

Hole In The World
by the Eagles

There's a hole in the world tonight.
There's a Cloud of fear and sorrow.
There's a hole in the world tonight.
Don't let there be a hole in the world tomorrow.

They say that anger is just love disappointed.
They say that love is just a state of mind,
but all this fighting over who will be anointed
.Oh how can people be so blind.

There's a hole in the world tonight.
There's a Cloud of fear and sorrow.
There's a hole in the world tonight.
Don't let there be a hole in the world tomorrow.

Oh they tell me there's a place over yonder,
cool water running through the burning sand,
until we we learn to love one another
we never reach the promise land.

There's a hole in the world tonight.
There's a Cloud of fear and sorrow.
There's a hole in the world tonight.
Don't let there be a hole in the world tomorrow.

Fall is around the corner

I love it. Especially here in New England. As we were driving across the state yesterday, we noticed several trees with leaves changing colors...beautful reds, yellows, oranges. I love the cool air and shorter days. I love the mums, cornstalks, pumpkins, and scarecrows I put in my flower beds and on my porch. I love college football. OU is 2-0! GO SOONERS!! What do YOU love about Fall?

Look at this!!

I think Teresa is sold out of these kits, but I want to make these...think I'll try to copy the best I can. They are too cute!

My Big Boy Started Kindergarten!

Yes, Jonathan's not a baby/toddler/preschooler anymore! :( He started Kindergarten yesterday. I did ok. Actually the night before, as I was putting him to bed, it hit me like a ton of bricks and of course some tears were shed. Then, after the boys were asleep, Nate and I went to check on them and they were snuggled up together...in the same bed. Seth knew and was actually having some anxiety as well about big brother going to 'real' school. The morning came and I was still doing ok. Nate was here to help and he wanted to be there too. Then the kids lined up and headed for their class...Jonathan turned around and waved. I got teary eyed, but amazingly I don't think any of them fell out. When I picked him up, of course I asked him if he'd had a good day and he firmly said, "No". Okay...I say, "Why?" He says, "I couldn't open my water bottle and I knew I couldn't ask for help."...that broke my heart and made me realize I need to remove the safety plastic. Then he told me he missed Seth. Sweet brothers.

TGIF

Yay! It's Friday! It's raining like crazy though. Trying to think of something fun to do with the boys since we can't go to the playground. Maybe we'll do some crafts.

Anyway, I'm excited to get a day to myself tomorrow! I'm going to Connecticut to meet some ladies and crop at a scrapbook store! I'm excited, but kinda nervous too. Nathan and the boys are going to do some 'guy' things and and get pizza.

When it rains, it pours

Stupid cliche' I know, but isn't a sinus infection and a cold enough? NOOOOOOOO, I have to get a stupid UTI on top of this. :( I keep thinking I must give up or at least control my intake of Diet DP???? Fun.

Doesn't this ROCK?!

My dear friend and cousin Tobi Mechelle got this cupcake 'cake' for her hubby, sis, and niece to celebrate their August birthdays. Isn't it awesome?! I love it! Wonder if I could get one around here anywhere?! ;)
Sorry it's so blurry...I had to enlarge it.

Today's Blog Challenge

What kind of music reminds you of the fun times when you were growing up. It could be when you were very young, or during your teenage years. List specific songs and music artists/groups.

Basically when I was young, I remember listening to the kind of music my parents liked. They were semi-hippy, well my dad was an all out hippy (LOL!), so they liked the classic rock music of the 60s and 70s...The Doors, Led Zepplin, Leonard Skynard, Jimmy Hendrix, The Who, ZZ Top, The Doobie Brothers, Neil Young (blech!) and as time went on, Foreigner, Heart, Journey, Styx, Van Halen, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles. Even to this day, I like most of these groups. Everytime I hear "Free Bird", I think of my dad automatically.

But as I grew into my teenage years, I began to explore different types of music on my own. I began to like softer rock, more 'bubble gum' type of rock I guess you could say. I liked Madonna (eek!) and remember skating away to "Material Girl" in Jr High! LOL!

I got out of that phase pretty quick and went 'back to my roots'. I started liking heavier rock groups like Def Leppard (Hysteria album just rocks). T Mechelle, do you remember crusing the main 'drag' listening to Hysteria over and over and over and wishing we could be in Shreveport seeing them live? And then remember the time in someone's (forgot if it was Travis or Shane's???) truck and everyone was fighting and or breaking up and again Hysteria was playing over and over?! LOL! Great memories! I also loved Motley Crue, Metallica, KISS, Cinderella, Slaughter, Warrant, AC/DC, Guns and Roses, Damn Yankees, Queensryche, Poison, Skid Row (oh man was I in love with Sebastian Bach and seeing him now...yuck!), Whitesnake, and a few other hair bands that I'm not remembering at the moment. This music remind me of some good, fun times growing up, perhaps growing up a little too quickly. Sometimes I shudder at the thought of some of the things I did. Risks I took, obviously not using good judgement, but I don't regret that time for anything. I will always remember my dear friends who were right there with me :) and continue to enjoy thinking about these fun years.

I'm WIDE awake at 1:15AM

I hate having this stupid cold/sinus infection. I'm seriously considering chugging some Nyquil even though I know I shouldn't mix all these meds. I'm like a wired zombie if that makes sense!

It's almost been 5 years

Wow. I can't believe we are coming up on the 5th anniversary of 9/11. I've been thinking about it so much lately. The pain and shock is still so raw. It's unbelievable that something so devastating could happen right here on our own soil. Makes me furious actually. I've been debating on seeing the new movie "World Trade Center", but I just don't know if I can watch it. I love Nicolas Cage...it's no surprise that he's my favorite actor, but like I said, I just don't know. I constantly think about the victims who losts their lives that sad day. Not only do I pray for their families and friends, I also pray for our great nation continuously.

I posted a song by The Eagles that was written immediately after 9/11. They were supposed to have a show that night, but for obvious reasons neglected to perform.

There are real, actual people who have never been...

to the Texas Roadhouse!! Can you believe it?! Today, we went. YUM! Anyway, we were seated close to the front and as the hostess walked by to seat the customers to their table, she would ask if they had ever been there before. Every single person who walked by said NO! I'm in total shock! I know this particular one has been there over a year so there's no excuse! ;) You think maybe it's because "Texas" is the key word and this is New England? It's funny though because people here love red meat...love steak. Love sweet tea and southern cuisine. Most natives I know actually go nuts about it!

Blog Challenge
