Rise Up!

The Sunday after Thanksgiving, we went to the Georgia Dome in Atlanta (I love living so close to a big city!) for a Falcons game. They played the Minnesota Vikings and won pretty handily...thanks to my favorite player, Adrian Peterson being injured. Oh well...we like the Falcons and are glad they won. Jonathan especially loves Matt Ryan so he was super happy.

Thanksgiving Preschool Decor

This was my November bulletin board in my classroom at school. I gave all my kid's a feather template to take home and decorate with their families. I certainly got some creative ones! I did these cute pilgrims I found on pinterest for our door decor. Each child wrote what they were thankful for.

Happy 70th Jeanie!

My in-laws came for Thanksgiving this year and my mother in law, Jeanie's birthday usually falls right around Thanksgiving. She turned 70 this year! She is an amazing mother in law, person, friend, mother, grandmother...just a wonderful person all around. She's so much fun and does so much for us. We really miss not living close to her anymore. She looks awesome for 70 doesn't she?!
Blowing out 70 birthday candles...this picture of my brother-in-law Matt cracks me up!

Robins AFB Aviation Museum

During Thanksgiving Break, I took the kids to the Aviation Museum we have here on base. We've been wanting to go for some time, but just never took the time until now. It's really a nicely done museum. I could've spent alot more time reading about the history of the Air Force aviation...or really the Air Force in general.
Uncle Matt came with us.
And best of all...it's free!

Thanksgiving Feast

We LOVE Seth's third grade teacher, Mrs. Lee. She is such an amazing teacher. She certainly doesn't have to do the extra things she does, but she loves doing them. She planned a Thanksgiving Feast for her class and their families on the Thursday night before Thanksgiving break this year. She provided the turkey, the drinks, and the desserts and then asked the families to bring side dishes. We brought mashed potatoes...they are Seth's favorite. That was quite an expense and alot of her own personal time was used planning and preparing for it. She said she loves doing it and I believe it! Why can't all teachers be like this? Fortunately, all of my kid's teachers have been awesome. Mrs. Lee is certainly special though. Seth with Mrs. Lee and his best friend, Matthew.

We are so thankful for Mrs. Lee!

Train Ride in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia and Tennesee

The first weekend in November, we went about 2 1/2 hours to Blue Ridge, Georgia...in north Georgia. We got on a train and rode it to the border of Tennessee. It was a neat train ride and the scenery was really nice. I think the boys were bored to death though! Not long ago, they would've loved this kind of thing!

Halloween

This year, I bit the bullet and let the kids be something scary. Ugh...what happened to the Disney characters or Spiderman or Darth Vader... We had a great Halloween...the kids got tons of candy and GOOD candy...our neighborhood rocks giving out candy...they got nearly all chocolate candy bars...even full sized ones!
I think this might be Jonathan's last year. :( He's growing up too fast.

I'm slightly obsessed with Owls right now...

along with the rest of the world! Seth and Jonathan know I love owls so they made some owl things for me at school. I treasure them both!! Seth drew and painted this owl and I still need to frame it.
Jonathan designed and sculpted this owl for me at school.

I LOVE owls!

Boston Trip

The Old North Bridge (sorry these got out of order!)

In the beginnning of October, my mom, aunt, good friend and I went to Boston for a fall trip. They flew from Dallas and I flew from Atlanta and then we met at Logan Airport in Boston and rented a car. We had a blast...just the girls seeing some of my old "stomping grounds" from being stationed there twice previously...I secretly wish we could go there again! There's so much history and culture and so much to do. The weather is perfect...you truly get all four seasons and I love that. We went to the John F Kennedy Memorial Library...even this conservative Republican loved it and was fascinated by it all.
I think JFK would truly cringe at some of the ideals and policies of the Democratic party today. He was a great president and truly lived the above statement...both in politics, citizenship, and service to his country.
The leaves are BEAUTIFUL this time of year...although we got there about a week or two early for the peak foliage.
Fenway Stadium where the Red Sox play. I wanted to go inside (we've been to a game there) so badly, but I had some tired passengers so we opted to not. This is probably my favorite area in Boston...Quincy Market. Fun shops, restaurants, and history. It's right across from Fanuel Hall. Inside Fanuel Hall...it's breathtaking how beautiful and well preserved it is.
Paul Revere's statue in Lexington Battle Green. This is where a famous battle in the Revolutionary War took place. Paul Revere gathered more minutemen and continued his ride until his capture...a few miles up the road in Concord. Interesting tidbit: Our first base home, on Patterson Road at Hanscom AFB...was a mere feet from his capture site! We could walk right over to it...they had a law that prohibited fencing from a national historical site...so there wasn't even a fence that separated it and the base. Well...that was pre-9-11. Now there is a fence.
The Old Congregational Church at Lexington Battle Green.
Statue at Lexington Green.
I LOVED Bewitched and Elizabeth Montgomery was my favorite actress from the 60s and 70s!! This statue sits in Salem center. One of my Salemite friends just cringed when I showed her this...Bewitched did make Salem famous (they filmed the show there for an episode), but true residents and historians beg to differ...yes Salem is known for alot more.
Of course it's known for the Witch hunts and trials...
Pickering Wharf at Salem Harbor.
This is a cute little lighthouse on Salem Harbor. When we first moved to Boston in January of 1996, I wanted to see a lighthouse first thing...this is what we found! It is cute, but there are several more in New England that are much more large and beautiful.
Harvard...I didn't get many good pictures of Harvard and MIT the day we went...my camera battery died and so did my IPhone. I didn't prepare!
The Old North Church in the background with another Paul Revere statue. It was in the very top of this church where the term, "The British are Coming! The British are Coming" was born...they saw them coming from the ocean.
Paul Revere's house in the North End of Boston.
The USS Constitution, aka Old Iron's side. The US Navy still maintains the ship.
We took a harbor cruise boat tour and this is part of the skyline of Boston...it's beautiful.
Fanuel Hall Market place which is in Quincy Market.
All through the city you may find on any given day these revolutionary impersonators...most give walking tours that are full of information about the different sites in the city. I love it!
George Washington statue in Boston Common
Boston TD Garden where the Bruins and Celtics play.
Another of Paul Revere at the Old North Bridge.
Grave of the British Soldiers at the Old North Bridge.
